And what is the Gospel? The gospel is the good message of a creator God who made a good world and put us in it, to keep it and to enjoy it. But we, in our rebellion, first in our father Adam, but also in the hardness of our hearts have not pursued that which is good, but that which is evil. We have chosen sin over holiness, we have chosen sin over good, we have chosen sin over God. God, in his justice would be right to condemn us to eternal punishment in hell, for a sin against an eternally holy God deserves nothing short of the harshest form of eternal punishment.
Ephesians 2:4–5—[4] But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, [5] even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved…
God has saved us by his grace through the faith we have received in Christ. He has redeemed us and assured our eternal security through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in us. This means heaven is ours, eternity is ours to enjoy, God is for us, we have power over sin and are able to live “self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age…” (Titus 2:12).
