The early church took the concept of hospitality very seriously. Their homes were open daily for mutual edification and fellowship. We read in Acts 2:46, And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts...
So, during the month of July we want to get together in our homes to enjoy 246 Dinners. Instead of gathering at the church building on Wednesday evenings as we normally do, we are encouraging all the members of our church to open up their homes and enjoy an evening of biblical hospitality with each other. We believe that following the fellowship pattern of the early church will deepen our bonds of love, help us know each other better, and lead us to grow in Christlikeness both individually and corporately.

Just a few pointers to help you plan• Keep dinners simple - the goal is hospitality, not entertainment
• Invite both folks you know well and folks you would like to know better • Pray and read Scripture together, but keep the focus on getting to know one another • Partner up with a friend or another family to host it together • Pack a picnic and meet at the park or beach • Have a potluck; invite everyone to bring something to share • Be prompt and on time so it can be sustainable (dinners are scheduled from 6-8pm) |
"And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved."
